Dr. JoAnn Yuen Begins Term as New CDS Director

Dr. JoAnn Yuen is the new Director of the Center on Disability Studies (CDS) at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She has been with the CDS for 16 years and most recently served as its Associate Director. Dr. Yuen is the first Native Hawaiian to serve as the director of a University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD), and the CDS is one of 67 UCEDDs serving U.S. states and territories.

Dr. Yuen will lead the efforts of the CDS guided by the vision and mission of founder Dr. Robert Stodden. Dr. Robert Stodden will transition to his new role as Professor Emeritus and will continue to contribute his expertise to the community.

As a research center, the CDS will continue to collaborate with people with disabilities, members of their families, national, state and local government agencies, and community providers, and provide training, technical assistance, service, and research to build community capacity.
