Our vision is to cultivate sustainable systems and processes that ultimately transform schools into innovative organizations and collaborative cultures of practice that meet the needs of all learners.

About EdTeach

EdTeach® is affiliated with the College of Education at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa. All products pioneered by EdTeach® were empirically validated using rigorous testing techniques made possible through funding from the U.S. Department of Education.

EdTeach Model and guides were initially developed based on a Model Demonstration Project (Award #:H326M090001) funded by the United States Department of Education Office of Special Education Programs (USDOE-OSEP), and awarded to the Center on Disability Studies at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.

This project developed and demonstrated an Instruction Coaching Model with an example of a personalized approach to supporting high school teachers in implementing writing instruction across the curriculum. As an example, this site provides a guide for implementing the model for improving high school students’ writing proficiency.

This Model illustrates a sample intervention logic model. Training on other subjects can be arranged upon request. Intended audiences include state, district, and school leaders who wish to improve teacher effectiveness and student writing outcomes, as well as teachers involved in this change process.

  • My coach was a wonderful aid in realizing my areas of need, not only in the area of writing ... This is one factor in teacher effectiveness that works.

  • This year was actually probably the most progressive of all the other years I've had when it comes to writing.

    9th-grader
  • I did not have much skill in writing in when I started this year, but throughout this year I have learned a lot and have [seen] great improvement in my writing skills.

    9th-grader
  • I am able to implement ideas and suggestions now because I was shown how.
