Ulu Pono Project

Ulu Pono

The Ulu Pono Project was funded by the U.S. Department of Labor (Agreement #CB-18240-09-60-A-15). The project was a partnership between the Center for Disability Studies and Kapi’olani Community College, University of Hawaiʻi. Ulu Pono project staff provided assistance with: employment searches, resume writing, job applications, interview practice, relevant skills building, dress for success, networking opportunities, and individualized employment plans.

The Ulu Pono Project was awarded to train individual in the health sciences who were:

  • Non-traditional adult learners
  • Unemployed or underemployed
  • Members of an underserved population
  • Or incumbent workers seeking additional skills

These individuals were trained in one of the following health science professions:

  • Pharmacy Technician
  • Dental Assistant
  • Medical Assistant
  • Medical Billing and Coding
  • Long Term Care Nurse Aide
