Project Overview

The Ulu Pono Project is funded by the U.S. Department of Labor (Agreement #CB-18240-09-60-A-15). This project is a partnership between the Center for Disability Studies and Kapi’olani Community College, University of Hawaii.

The Ulu Pono Project was awarded to train individual in the health sciences who were:

  • Non-traditional adult learners
  • Unemployed or underemployed
  • Members of an underserved population
  • Or incumbent workers seeking additional skills

These individuals were trained in one of the following health science professions:

  • Pharmacy Technician
  • Dental Assistant
  • Medical Assistant
  • Medical Billing and Coding
  • Long Term Care Nurse Aide

We provide employment assistance to Ulu Pono Project participants.
