Hawaii Visitability Coalition

The mission of the Hawaii Visitability Coalition is to promote collaboration among people who would like to see a big increase in Hawaii’s stock of housing that is both affordable and accessible to people who have difficulty moving around. Accessible housing is often called “visitable” because it allows people who use wheelchairs, scooters, walkers, or canes to more easily visit friends and neighbors, thus avoiding social isolation. Visitable housing is also appreciated by seniors and their families because it may allow them to “age-in-place” in their own homes without the need for expensive modifications, or perhaps care home placement, as they develop age-related health problems.
