2008 Abled Hawai‘i Artists’ Festival celebrates the ADA in Hawai‘i
On July 26 and 27th, 2008 the Abled Hawai‘i Artists’ Festival AHA Arts! celebrated the 18th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilites Act in Hawaii!
Major accomplishments of the fifth annual AHA Arts! event included:
- over 30 registered artist and exhibitor tables
- performances by talented groups such as The What?!, Wela, Vaihi and more
- the first AHA juried art exhibition
- a special appearance (and duet) performed by the Mayor of Honolulu and Johnny Buquing
- the first AHA Arts! festival on the Big Island of Hawaii
Abled Hawai‘i Artists’ would like to sincerely thank everyone for participating in this important event. Over 36 talented artists entered the juried art exhibition and the top winners were Dennis Okada from Rehab Hospital of the Pacific, Cyrus Lowe, and Morris Nakamura. Congratulations to them and their abilities!
Special thanks goes out to ALL the volunteers at the AHA event, without which none of this would be possible.
