This Leadership Institute is being held in conjunction with the Federal Asian Pacific American Council (FAPAC)’s 21st Annual National Leadership Training Conference, scheduled for May 8-12, 2006. FAPAC participants and others, including employers from all government departments, human resource personnel from private businesses and organizations, personnel from vocational rehabilitation and disability support programs, and persons with disabilities are all encouraged to take advantage of this unique opportunity.

2006 Hire Abilities—Hawai‘i Employment Summit: Expanding Workforce Pathways For People with Disabilities

Description: Of the many pursuits undertaken by people with disabilities, meaningful employment may be the most important and challenging. The roadblocks to finding a job and then developing a career are formidable. But we know that a disability need not be the defining factor in that person’s life. A disability does not prevent the highest level of achievement and satisfaction when opportunities are fairly and fully afforded. Self-advocates, consumers, and family members bear witness to accomplishments despite the adversities that accompany disabilities.
