Pacific Basin University Centers for Excellence in Education, Research, and Service for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities (PBUCE)
- Funded as a supplemental program of the Hawai‘i UCE with sites in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) at the Northern Marianas College (NMC) and in American Samoa at the American Samoa Community College (ASCC).
- The Hawai‘i UCE supports the PBUCE through governance, technical assistance and mentorship activities.
- Consumer Advisory Council for each site provides direction in planning, implementing and evaluating project activities.
- The goals and objectives focus on the following need areas: early intervention, assistive technology, interagency coordination, inclusive schools and communities, participation in cultural and traditional arts, service coordination, transition/vocational/employment, and training for special education teachers, related service providers, personal assistants, and interpreters for individuals who are deaf.
- Provides technical assistance for the TRI-Agencies in American Samoa and Commonwealth of Northern Marianas Island in assuring active collaboration and communication across the agencies.
