About the Center on Disability Studies: Governance

The CDS has developed self-governance structures. The CDS Congress, composed of all faculty, staff, and graduate assistants, meets twice a year and elects representatives to the CDS Faculty Senate. The Director serves as an ex-officio member of the Faculty Senate. The Faculty Senate addresses issues of peer-review of faculty, developing criteria for promotion, and other administrative matters. A highlight of the Faculty Senate this year was the production of the Model for Accessibility Guidelines. Faculty are working with the College of Education and the University to obtain representation from CDS on the COE Faculty Senate and the Manoa Faculty Senate. CDS also has a representative on the University of Hawai‘i Professional Assembly (UHPA).
