Develop a tracking and information system for the newborn hearing screening program in American Samoa that follows children from the screening process through early intervention (EI). SILAS (Share, Integrate, Link American Samoa) is a custom data system developed under the CDC cooperative agreement. All inpatient screenings, outpatient screenings and diagnostic evaluations (DAE) are tracked in SILAS. A rules engine automates the next activities based on screening or DAE results as defined by the program. Efforts to contact families are tracked and managed under the Lost-to-Followup phase. Other activities like ENT appointments, progress notes are also tracked. The landing page has dashboard queues designed to help staff manage their work and adhere to the program guidelines. Staff can send an electronic EI Referral in SILAS. The EI program is integrated as a program in SILAS and staff can share and view program data, medical history and demographics as agreed upon.
